University’s Dean of College of Arts & Sciences Meredith Woo

College Dean Meredith Woo will step down in May, she announced in an email to students Monday morning. Woo has served as dean of the graduate and undergraduate Arts & Sciences schools since 2008.

“The changes in the College in recent years have been fundamental,” Woo said in the email. “The College is well positioned to work with a new dean, with much momentum going forward.”

Woo joined the University after serving in administrative and faculty positions at the University of Michigan, Northwestern and Columbia.

She will take a sabbatical when her term ends to finish writing her book, after which she will return to teaching, she said.

“It has been an honor to serve as your dean,” she said. “I have a fund of wonderful memories, and I look forward to working with you in future endeavors for the College.”
