    IU's Knight after

A band of Indiana University students calling themselves "Knight's Army" marched on University President Myles Brand's home Sunday to protest the firing of legendary basketball coach Bobby Knight. The hordes of students carried banners, chanted and made impromptu speeches, all under the eye of police in full riot gear.

One reportedly set fire to an effigy of freshman Kent Harvey, the student who accused Knight of grabbing his arm, restraining him and shouting obscenities in an encounter last Thursday. Harvey's report ultimately led to Knight's dismissal.

Knight spoke to the thousands of protesters Monday morning in an attempt to calm them.

"In the next two days, I'm going to get together somewhere with as many students who want to come out, and then I'm going to tell you my side of this thing and I think you'll be interested in hearing it," he said.

    Huskers, FSU on top

Nebraska and Florida State both survived close games this week to remain 1-2 in the AP Top 25 college football poll. FSU held its No. 2 spot after squeaking by Georgia Tech Saturday, 26-21, while the Cornhuskers defeated Notre Dame in overtime, 27-24. Michigan, Wisconsin and Texas rounded out the top five.

Clemson climbed one spot to No. 16 after trouncing Missouri, 62-9. No other ACC team cracked the top 25, though Georgia Tech did garner five votes.

Virginia Tech, who beat East Carolina 45-28, claimed the No. 8 spot.
