In as close a game as the Virginia women's soccer team has played this season, Alyssa Benitez scored with one minute, 23 seconds to go and beat No. 13 Florida State, 1-0, in her team's last game before the ACC Tournament. The game was played at the Seminole Soccer Complex Saturday night in Tallahassee.

The seeds for the ACC Tournament will be determined by a tiebreaker before the tournament begins in Durham Thursday.
Split in the sunshine
The Virginia women's volleyball team had mixed success on a road trip to Tallahassee this weekend. Friday the Cavs lost a conference game to Florida State, 3-2 (15-4, 13-15, 16-14, 7-15, 15-13), but recovered with a win over Florida A&M, 3-1 (15-6, 11-15, 15-7, 15-3) Saturday.

Against Florida State, freshman outside hitter Paige Davis had 20 kills and 14 digs to extend her streak of double-doubles to 12 matches. The next day that streak was broken when Davis managed only 10 kills and nine digs in the win. However, her teammate Deanna Zwarich continued her streak of double figures in kills with 29 against the Seminoles and 21 against the Rattlerettes. Zwarich's streak is now at 21 matches.
Double the fun
The Virginia field hockey team couldn't have asked for more from its weekend trip to Durham, N.C.
In two days, the Cavaliers won two close games and proved they have the tenacity necessary to be successful in next weekend's ACC Tournament.

Friday, the Cavs (12-6, 1-3 ACC) went into overtime to beat Duke, 3-2. Junior Carrie Goodloe scored on a penalty corner five minutes into the extra period to hand Virginia the win and a fourth-place finish in the regular season conference standings.
Saturday, it was more of the same. Virginia recovered from a one-goal deficit, scored two goals in a span of 1:50 and beat Yale, 2-1, in Durham. In that game, junior Mason White scored her first career goal and Jess Coleman tallied her 15th of the season, the 38th of her career.
Virginia starts the tournament Thursday with a 2:30 p.m. game against the fifth-seeded Blue Devils.
