Men's hoops opens preseason against Leopards

The Virginia men's basketball team begins its exhibition season tomorrow at 2 p.m. when it takes on the London Leopards at University Hall. After practicing against themselves for almost three weeks, the Cavs are looking forward to facing a real opponent.

"We're very excited to finally beat up on somebody other than ourselves," junior tri-captain Chris Williams said.

Virginia finished last season with a record of 19-11 overall and 9-7 in ACC play. They rode two victories over North Carolina and a home overtime victory over Maryland to a third-place ACC regular season finish. This year, with all but two players returning, Cavalier coach Pete Gillen likes his team's chances for improvement.

"Our guys are working very hard, and we're going to have a very exciting team," Gillen said. "We're going to be a better team, and time will tell how we do."
