Florida State defensive end shot in back
Seminole senior defensive end Eric Powell was shot in the right lower back early Sunday morning in Orlando in what appears to have been a confrontation with a robber. Powell was listed on Monday as being in stable condition at Orlando Regional Medical Center.
The defensive end started in Florida State's season-opener at Duke on Sept. 1, and now ranks 11th on the team for total tackles. Powell has had seven tackles, including four solo stops, since the beginning of the Seminoles' 2001 season.
Coach Bobby Bowden expressed the Seminoles' concern and hopes for Powell's quick recovery.
Two more ACC games rescheduled for Dec. 1
After a weekend's deliberation, the ACC announced Monday that the postponed Duke-Clemson and Georgia Tech-Florida State football games, originally scheduled for this past Saturday, have been rescheduled for Saturday, Dec. 1.
Because of the break for Thanksgiving, academic interests and the commitment of FSU's Doak Campbell Stadium for six Florida high school championship games from Dec. 6-8, the best date for both games seemed to be Dec. 1.
Along with the rescheduling of many other postponed games, the ACC announced last Wednesday that the Cavaliers now will face Penn State Dec. 1 at Scott Stadium.
