The Atlantic Coast Sports Writers Association announced the football all-ACC team yesterday. Cavaliers' wide receiver Billy McMullen was the only Virginia player to be named to the first team.
McMullen has caught a school-record 80 passes for 1,019 yards and 12 touchdowns so far this season and leads the ACC in every receiving category. He is also Virginia's all-time career receptions leader with 138.
Three Cavaliers were named to the second-team - linebacker Angelo Crowell, safety Shernard Newby and punter Mike Abrams.
Crowell is fourth in the ACC with an average of 12.5 tackles per game. He has made 137 tackles this season - three short of Virginia's record for most tackles in a season. Newby is second in the ACC with five interceptions - the most by a Cavalier since 1995. Abrams, who is second in the conference with a 42.2-yard punting average, is a finalist for the Ray Guy Punter of the Year Award.
Three Virginia players were named honorable mention all-ACC: tackle Jermese Jones, nose tackle Monsanto Pope and guard Evan Routzahn.
