Sports In Brief

The Virginia volleyball team fell to Duke on Friday in the ACC tournament. Despite the momentum from Thursday night's 3-0 victory over N.C. State, the Cavaliers quickly dropped the first two games of the match to the Blue Devils. Sophomore middle Shannon Boyle, who recorded a team-high 17 kills and .455 hitting percentage for the match, led the Cavaliers to victory in the third game and helped them establish a 21-15 lead in the fourth game. However, the Blue Devils quickly rebounded with a 10-4 run to take the lead and never looked back to avert the upset, 3-1 (30-21, 30-26, 25-30, 30-28).
