Eliese Mitchell broke her own school record in the weight throw with a throw of 61 feet, 7 inches to finish sixth in the Virginia Tech Invitational. Kiamesha Otey placed first in the long jump at 20 feet, 4 inches. Both women provisionally qualified for the NCAA meet. On the men's team, Jarrett Hagwood won the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 7.99 seconds, the fastest time this year for Virginia. Matt Antunes finished second in the 600-meter run with a time of 1:19.72.

Other performers of note for the women's team were Curtrell Frye, who had a season-best leap of 12.02 meters in the triple jump; Sarah Folse, Jane Maxwell, Meghan McGarvey and Ashley Seaton, who finished 3-4-6-7 in the 5,000-meter run; Courtney Cox and Jessica Randolph, who tied for third in the hight jump with a leap of 5 feet, 4.5 inches; Viktoria Osipenko, who finished fifth in the pole vault at 3.50 meters; and Caroline Harvey, who finished in a three-way tie for fourth in the long jump at 19 feet, 2 inches.
