According to the Washington Post, Virginia sophomore Maurice Young has transferred to St. Bonaventure. St. Bonaventure had no comment on the Post's report.
Young left the Virginia men's basketball team Nov. 19 after playing in 25 games in his freshman season last year. He averaged 2.6 points and 1.3 rebounds in 6.7 minutes of playing time. According to NCAA transfer rules, Young will have to sit out one year before he can play for the Bonnies.
A swig of Brandi
Virginia freshman Brandi Teamer recorded her third ACC rookie of the week honor Monday. She notched double-doubles in the Virginia women's basketball team's three ACC games this week.
In Virginia's 79-68 loss to Clemson on Monday, Teamer scored 22 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. She almost matched that performance with 22 points and 10 rebounds in the Cavaliers' 92-61 loss to Georgia Tech on Thursday. Teamer closed out the week by leading Virginia to a 65-51 win over Wake Forest on Sunday. She had 17 points and a career-high 13 rebounds.
Teamer has started all 16 games for the Virginia women's basketball team this year.
Victory Lane
Virginia junior swimmer Cara Lane earned ACC co-swimmer of the week honors on Monday for her role in Virginia's 178-110 win over N.C. State at the Aquatic and Fitness Center on Saturday.
Lane won the 1,000-yard freestyle by more than 18 seconds by recording an ACC season-best time of 9 minutes, 50.91 seconds. She also recorded a victory in the 500 free with an NCAA "B" qualifying time of 4:54.06.
Lane shared the weekly award with North Carolina's Jesse Perruquet.
