University professors are using the Internet to help Virginia high school students pass the 11th grade U.S. history Standards of Learning exam.
The Miller Center of Public Affairs and the Virginia Center for Digital History are collaborating to create an online guide to multimedia history resources. Teachers will be able to use the guide to incorporate multimedia into their 11th grade history curriculums.
The online resource will include pertinent essays, recommended readings and original historical documents, all focused on the requirements of the SOLs.
The 11th grade U.S. history SOL exam is notorious for being one of the hardest tests. Only 47 percent of students passed the history test last year, the fewest of any SOL exam.
Harvard students plead not guilty to grand larceny
Two students at Harvard University are accused of embezzling $100,000 from a theatre club.
Seniors Suzanne Pomey and Randy Gomes pled not guilty to charges of grand larceny Wednesday, though prosecutors said both students have admitted to some wrongdoing.
Pomey and Gomes both are former high-ranking officers in the Hasty Pudding Theatricals Club, the oldest undergraduate theater organization in the country.
Prosecutors claim Pomey and Gomes transferred money from the organization's credit card to their own bank accounts. The two students allegedly then used the stolen money to support Gomes' drug habit, take trips across the country and buy electronics.
