The Virginia baseball team shut out Bucknell yesterday, 8-0, and moved to 3-0 on the season after beating the Bison twice Saturday.

Virginia senior Dan Street, a first-team All-ACC pitcher, and sophomore reliever Joe Koshansky combined to allow just three Bucknell hits. Street, who notched the win, tallied nine strikeouts in five innings of work.

Saturday, the Cavaliers opened their season with a 10-3 victory in the first game of the doubleheader. Virginia scored three first inning runs and never looked back.

  • Koshansky belted his first career home run, a two-run shot, to lead the Virginia offense.

    On the day, senior outfielder David Stone stole four bases to bring his career total to 61.

    Virginia will return to action in Charleston, S.C. Friday in the Citadel Tournament.

    Wrestling wins first ACC match, drops second in North Carolina

    The Virginia wrestling team fell to N.C. State yesterday, 31-13, after jumping out to a 6-0 lead. The Cavaliers (4-10, 1-2 ACC) won only three of 10 matches as the Wolfpack won 21 straight points to secure the victory. Saturday, Virginia defeated Duke 28-11, giving the Cavaliers their first win in ACC competition. The Cavaliers won seven of 10 matches on the day to defeat the Blue Devils.
