The No. 12 Virginia men's swimming team (8-2, 5-0 ACC) beat Maryland (4-8, 1-5), 199-96 in College Park yesterday. The Cavalier women, however, won only three of the 16 events in their side of the meet, falling to the Lady Terps, 179-121. It was the Virginia women's first loss of the season, putting them at 9-1 overall and 4-1 in the ACC this season.

The Virginia men took 13 of 16 events, including NCAA "B" qualifying times posted by sophomore Luke Anderson in the 100-meter freestyle relay (44.97 seconds) and sophomore Luke Wagner in the 200 backstroke (1 minute 46.05 seconds).

The Cavalier women got wins from juniors Mirjana Bosevska and Cara Lane. Bosevska posted her season-best time in the 200 fly at 2 minutes 0.66 seconds, good enough for a NCAA "B" qualifying time. Lane also qualified with her 4 minutes 51.57 seconds time in the 500 free.
