Lacrosse nets sixth win
The Virginia men's lacrosse team brought home its sixth straight victory this weekend after a 10-9 win at North Carolina on Saturday. The No. 2 Cavaliers (7-1, 2-0 ACC) are one win away from clinching the top seed in the ACC tournament, and they will get their chance this Saturday against Duke at home.
The Cavaliers came out to snag an early 3-0 lead, and although the Tar Heels battled back to narrow the lead to one before the end of the first quarter, Virginia held on to escape with the 10-9 victory.
Senior All-American Conor Gill led the Cavalier attack with two goals and two assists and junior midfielder Chris Rotelli added two goals and an assist. Freshman attacker Joe Yevoli also scored twice.
Virginia can clinch the conference title with a win over eighth-ranked Duke when they host the Blue Devils Saturday at 1 p.m.
