Cavaliers take second title with 1-0 win over Harvard

The Virginia women's soccer team topped Harvard Sunday to win their second tournament in two weeks. The 1-0 victory over the Crimson marked the 150th career win for Cavalier coach Steve Swanson.

Virginia improved to 6-1-1 on the seaon. Junior forward Lindsay Gusick knocked in an assist from Sarah Huffman and Shannon Foley midway through the first half to score the game-winner and the lone goal of the game. Gusick's goal was the 25th of her career and moved her into the top 10 on Virginia's career goals list.

She also was named offensive MVP of the Adidas/Hypertherm tournament and Cavalier goalkeeper Anne Abernethy was named defensive MVP. The senior goalie from Atlanta recorded two shutouts over the weekend.

Virginia will travel to Raleigh, N.C. on Friday Sept. 26 for their Atlantic Coast Conference opener against the Wolfpack of North Carolina State.
