Curses and jinxes all part of the game

I have to admit, I'm a little scared. Last week in this space I worried out loud, making an innocent speculation about the punishment Virginia's football season could take out on its quarterback, he-whose-name-I-shall-not-mention. The result? According to several irate messages I've gotten since Saturday's game, the idle pondering of my last column brought on the one thing that could slow number 7 down: A jinx.

Of course, that's nonsense. Who believes in anything as silly as a jinx? And even if they did, barely enough people read this column to give it that much of a ripple effect. Saturday's injury was just part of the game of football
