Hammond picks up weekly accolades after tournament

Kelley Hammond, a sophomore midfielder for the Virginia women's soccer team, was named the ACC's player of the week on Monday. Her two goals and one assist in the Virginia Nike Soccer Classic helped enable the Cavaliers to take the tournament title. Hammond netted the game-winning goal of Friday night's match against No. 2/3 Santa Clara in the 56th minute and added a late assist from Ariel Thompson on route to a 4-1 Cavalier victory.

The midfielder also tallied the game-winning goal against No. 22/23 Southern California on Sunday afternoon. Hammond and the Cavaliers' look to continue their scoring ways as they take on host Big Green Friday night at the Dartmouth Adidas/Hypertherm Tournament.
