More allegations arise at already suspect school

Citing accusations of improper offers to recruits, the NCAA formally notified Auburn it is looking into possible major rules violations in the men's basketball program.

School officials will not release the NCAA's letter but did report the accusations involve one former and one current assistant coach.Both will remain unidentified.

Auburn officials first learned of a possible investigation in October of last year when they received a letter from the NCAA.

The school's basketball program already is under investigation for purported benefits received from an AAU coach and other illegal endorsement allegations that center around recruit Jackie Butler.
