Streaking is a University tradition, but not many students would expect to be belligerently jogging in the buff down Main Street at age 30 with a jiggling beer gut and a receding hairline. While most students end their streaking days at graduation, Frank "the Tank" relives his wild college days through an unofficial fraternity in the movie "Old School."
All University students are invited to see "Old School" at the movie on the Lawn" event tonight at 9 p.m. The event is hosted by the Class of 2004 Trustees, who plan programming ranging from career services to entertainment for the fourth-year class.
There will be a big projection screen in front of Rouss Hall and regular sound amplification, fourth-year Commerce student and secretary for the Class of 2004 Trustees Patrice Devane said.
For more comfortable viewing, Devane said, students are encouraged to bring blankets or small chairs as well as beverages. Free popcorn will be provided.
The event is advertised to all classes, but the goal of the event is to promote fourth-year class unity.
"It's just kind of a nostalgic venue for fourth years to come together and have fun," Devane said.
There have been movie nights hosted by previous classes held in the amphitheater, but the 2004 Trustees chose the Lawn for its atmosphere.
"[We] just [wanted] to do something different on the Lawn that a variety of people would be interested in attending," Devane said.
The entertainment committee chose to show "Old School" to further increase crowd appeal.
"Going the comedy route, you can't really go wrong," Devane said.
Upcoming events planned by the 2004 Trustees include a graduate and professional school panel on Oct. 1, a Corner Night on Oct. 9 and a tailgate before the football game against Florida State on Oct. 18.
