Golf places 7th in San Juan

The Virginia men's golf team finished 7th out of 18 teams at the Puerto Rico Classic on Tuesday with a score of 879 (+15) on the 54-hole course. Florida took home the title with a nine-under 855. ACC rival Clemson finished in second by one stroke, while posting an 856 (-8). The Tigers' Matt Hendrix had the best score of the three rounds with a nine-under 207.

Cavalier sophomores Eamonn McLoughlin and Brad Tilley both tied for 32nd with a four-over 220. Freshman Dan McGurk and junior Kevin O'Connell followed right behind with a 221 (+5) each.

Oklahoma led after two rounds of play, but fell to third place after shooting a 295 (+7) on the final day to finish with an 858. Oklahoma State shot the lowest round of the day with a 281.
