Virginia Swim and Dive Teams Split Meet at Maryland

aturday at College Park, the Virginia men's swimming and diving team defeated Maryland 177-61, while the women's team fell, 137-106.

The No. 9 Cavalier men's team dominated an unranked Maryland squad by winning 11 of 13 events, improving their season record to 10-1 overall. For the fourth year in a row, Virginia finished undefeated in the ACC. Senior Luke Wagner once again paced the team by winning two events individually -- the 200-yard individual medley and 200-yard backstroke The Virginia women, No. 18 before Saturday's meet, were defeated by No. 19 Maryland. Freshman Kimi Kelly starred for the Cavaliers by taking three of Virginia's four event victories and earning a pool record time of 9:42.84 in the 1,000-yard freestyle. Maryland's Megan Knepper led the Terrapin women's squad with wins in three events, including an automatic NCAA qualifying time in the 200-yard backstroke.
