Dobies receives ACC baseball honor

Virginia junior Andrew Dobies was named ACC Pitcher of the Week on Monday for his outstanding pitching performance last Saturday against N.C. State.

Dobies, who started the first of three games against the Wolfpack this past weekend, led the Cavaliers to a 9-2 victory behind his nine-inning, two-run, eight-hit, complete game. Maybe even more impressive, the lefty did so without walking a single N.C. State batter.

Dobies joins teammates senior Joe Koshansky and freshman Casey Lambert as the third Cavalier to earn ACC Player or Pitcher of the Week honors this season. For the season, Dobies holds a record of 4-0 with a 2.15 ERA and a .216 opponent's batting average. In 46 innings, he has a team-high 51 strikeouts.
