Men's lacrosse rebounds against Towson

The Virginia men's lacrosse team pulled off its most exciting win of the season yesterday, a 9-8 overtime victory over Towson to improve its record to 2-4 on the season.

Entering the locker room at halftime, Towson held the lead at 5-2, and the initial 30 minutes of contest were reminiscent of Virginia's four previous losses. The Cavaliers, however, responded with five goals in the third quarter and regained the lead, 7-6.

Through the final 15 minutes of regulation, Towson scored twice, while Virginia notched a single goal, and the 8-8 game was sent into overtime. The Cavaliers won the faceoff to start the extra period and called a quick timeout to set up the offense. Thirty seconds into sudden death, Virginia attackman Matt Ward scored on an assist from Kyle Dixon to lead the Cavaliers to victory.
