Carolina recruit pleads guilty to drug possession

North Carolina basketball recruit JamesOn Curry pleaded guilty to drug charges in Alamance County court yesterday, according to ESPN.com. The Web site reported that Curry, the leading scorer in North Carolina high school basketball history, pleaded guilty to six charges relating to the possession and sale of marijuana and was sentenced to 36 months of probation, 200 hours of community service and several fines.

Curry scored over 3,000 points in his career with Eastern Alamance High School before he was dismissed from the team following his February arrest.

A spokesman for UNC told ESPN.com the university would have no comment on the status of Curry's scholarship until coach Roy Williams returned from the Final Four in San Antonio.
