Virginia sets school record with five ACC titles

During the 2003-04 season, five separate Cavalier athletic squads won conference championships, the highest number the school has ever attained in an athletic year. In claiming their ACC titles last weekend, the women's rowing and men's tennis teams joined the men's soccer and men's and women's swimming and diving teams as conference champions.

Virginia has won four ACC titles on three occasions, including last year with championships from men's lacrosse, women's rowing and men's and women's swimming and diving. Cavalier athletic teams also took four championships in 1986-87 and 1989-90.

The baseball, softball and men's and women's lacrosse teams still have seasons in progress, giving Virginia the potential to add to the ACC title run of the current athletic year.
