Fourteen Virginia swimmers to compete at Olympic Trials

Over a dozen athletes who competed for the Virginia swimming team in the 2003-04 season have been invited to participate in the U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials July 7-14 in Long Beach, Calif.

Rising juniors Rachel Burke and Brielle White along with rising sophomore Kimi Kelly are among the top Virginia women competing. White is seeded No. 12 in the 100-meter backstroke.

Some of the top seeded men's swimmers include Michael Raab (No. 3 in the 200-meter butterfly), Fran Crippen (No. 6 in the 1500-meter freestyle) and Luke Wagner (No. 6 in the 200-meter backstroke).

A maximum of 26 men and 26 women will be selected to the Olympic team, with first priority given to all event winners and the top four in the 100- and 200-meter freestyle.
