Zimmerman takes on the world

Virginia baseball's historic and record-setting season concluded in early June after the squad hosted their first-ever NCAA Regional, but the accolades continue to accumulate.

On June 27, Cavalier third baseman Ryan Zimmerman was one of 22 players selected for the 2004 USA Baseball National Team. The team, which did not qualify for the Olympics, is about two-thirds of the way through its schedule which includes contests versus the Canadian National Team and squads from Japan and China.

"It's a huge honor," Zimmerman said. "It's totally different than playing in college -- you're playing for a whole country
