Volleyball loses to Clemson, Georgia Tech on road trip

The Cavaliers dropped two consecutive decisions for the first time in ACC play, falling on the road to the Tigers (30-19, 30-25, 29-31, 30-28) Saturday and the Yellow Jackets (30-23, 30-20, 22-30, 30-26) Friday. Virginia's record now stands at 13-7 (3-5 ACC).

After losing the first two sets against Georgia Tech handedly, the Cavaliers came back from 12-4 and 19-9 deficits to win the third. Virginia kept it close in the fourth, pulling within one point at 29-28 late in the set, but a kill by Yellow Jacket Jayme Gergen clinched the Georgia Tech victory.

Against Clemson, Virginia could not match up to the Tigers' .354 hitting percentage and lost in four sets. Freshman outside hitter Sarah Kirkwood led the Cavaliers with 23 kills and 15 digs, but it was not enough, as Virginia fell behind two sets to none early. The Cavaliers were unable to recover, falling in four sets.
