Women's golf team drops after second round of tournament

After sharing the lead with Auburn in the first round of the ACC/SEC Challenge, the Cavaliers dropped to 11th place after the second round on Saturday.

Virginia shot a 312, 28 over par in the second round, giving them a total of 604, 36 over par.

No. 2 Auburn, on the other hand, shot a 271 in the second round. Their 13-under performance gave them a 15-stroke lead over the rest of the field.

Conference foe and top-ranked Duke is in second place with 578 and Mississippi is in third with 584.

Individually, Virginia sophomore Leah Wigger is tied for 26th with 149 and freshman Lauren Mielbrecht is tied for 35th with 151. Three other Cavaliers are in the top 50.
