Every spring, hundreds of University students make the journey to Rugby Road to participate in one of the most anticipated events of the semester: sorority and fraternity rush.
During the rush process, the University's 31 fraternity houses and 16 sorority houses are bustling with activity, inviting students to compete for a limited number of openings in their houses for the coming year. Because rush begins at the start of every spring semester, interested individuals are faced with an exigent task: attempting to balance their new semester responsibilities while consistently attending numerous rush-related interviews and social events. Despite the challenges that rush presents at the semester's onset, the number of students choosing to undergo the process remains constant from year to year. In fact, many of the student body does not question the role of rush and Greek life within the University community because of the social opportunities these organizations provide.
