20 Questions

Each week, the Cavalier Daily asks a student 25 questions and allows him or her to eliminate five of them. This week's interviewee is John Baxton, Class of '02, who works as a programmer at the Darden Business School.

Q: Who's your favorite person to talk to on the phone?

A: My wife, Margaret.

Q: What is your favorite dessert?

A: Apple pie à la mode.

Q: If you were in the desert and could have 10 pounds of any food, what would it be?

A: Corn Pops. Gotta' have 'em.

Q: Favorite airline?

A: Southwest.

Q: Best advice you ever received and who gave it to you?

A: Never turn down a job you haven't been offered.Alf Weaver said that to me.

Q: How do you eat eggs?

A: Scrambled with cheese.

Q: On a scale of one to 13, how many free throws should Elton Brown have made on Saturday?

A: Well, at least the last two.

Q: What do you look forward to most this week?

A: Friday at five. Same as every week.

Q: What is the ugliest and prettiest place on Grounds?

A: Ugliest is the SAB. Prettiest is the Chapel -- I got married there.

Q: What do you think of President Bush's plan for Social Security Reform?

A: It's going to create more debt.

Q: What's the first thing you would do if I gave you one million dollars?

A: Pay off my student loans.

Q: When was the last time you laughed really hard?

A: Last night watching "The Girl Next Door," I'm ashamed to say.

Q: Who is your favorite person to see on Grounds: No Shoes Guy, Boombox Guy or Unicycle Guy?

A: You're forgetting a lot of people. There's Electric Bus guy and Running Guy. I don't know.

Q: If you could be any other mammal, which would you be and why?

A: A lion. [He roars].

Q: What do you have on the walls of your room?

A: Well, I have an office. I've got a Guinness poster and some Ansel Adams pictures.

Q: Favorite heirloom and who gave it to you?

A: Well, it's actually not an heirloom. It's a comic my mom gave me about 15 years ago and it says, "I can't go out right now. My mom says my room has reached critical mass." It's pretty true.

Q: What kind of cell phone do you have?

A: Motorola E310. It's got sweet lights. It was free, okay?

Q: Who makes you think?

A: You do.

Q: What's your favorite accent?

A: I want to answer this one. British woman.

Q: What's the craziest thing you've ever done?

A: Well, I auditioned for "American Idol" in August. I also had a fairly public bus accident which AVP named a CD after.

The verdict: John still has Guinness posters on his office wall, and he's not even a student anymore. Plus, he was in AVP and drove for UTS. He said he hopes his picture won't embarrass his mom or Margaret.
