A little page conversation

It turned out to be a good thing that I waited until the spring of my third year to start on my language requirement. I've been using French 105 as a daily personal therapy session for three weeks.

Forget describing my family tree or speaking in the never-ending present tense -- I want to learn stuff that will actually help me vent my frustrations.

"Comment dit-on 'The worst basketball team E-VER'?"

I don't even remember the answer. It was the question that said it all.

I definitely remember how to curse Elton Brown en français, but I've been doing that in English for two years now. And as cool as it is to be able to say "pardon my French" with a straight face, I continue to combat my anger.

So that's where you come in. I'm about to lie down on my futon, stretch my legs and let it all come out. Just you and me -- and my imaginary shrink, Dr. Littlepage.

Doc: So Bayless, how do you feel about Virginia being 1-7 in the ACC?

BP: You know it would be 0-8 if that Sharrod Ford three-pointer had gone in, right? Let me assure you Craig, if it had, I'd be rooting to go winless right now. At this point, don't you secretly wish we could have at least seen this team's name in the "Guinness Book of World Records"?

Doc: Yes, ye -- I mean -- no, of course not, Bayless. I'm reminded of a sign that the so-called "Team Halloween" always holds up: "IT'S STILL EARLY." You could take a page from those young men in having a positive attitude.
