Chris Canty, a former defensive lineman for the University of Virginia, was hurt in a nightclub in Scottsdale, Ariz. two weeks ago. The injury, which was caused by an unknown object, required 50 stitches to close cuts near his left eye.
According to the Scottsdale Police Department, Canty accidentally bumped into a person sitting at the bar. The unknown individual reacted by shining a small flashlight in Canty's eye. Profanities were exchanged before he continued walking through the bar.
Ten minutes later, Canty was struck in the face from behind by what appeared to be a glass bottle. The glass caused cuts around his eye, temple and cheekbone. He was rushed to the hospital following the skirmish.
Canty was in Arizona training for his upcoming workouts in preparation for the NFL draft. He plans to attend the NFL Combine in Indianapolis but not workout at the event. He will workout for individual teams in private workouts. His recent injuries do not appear to affect his plans for the combine.
