Spectrum Theater does most of its work in the shadows. To many students, Spectrum might be nothing more than that little phrase at the bottom of the myriad fliers for shows like The Vagina Monologues, Voices of the Class or, currently, Dido and Aeneas. Though the tiny line, "presented by Spectrum Theater" is always there, the plays themselves are what get the spotlight in the U.Va. theater community.
Yet Spectrum is one of the most important producing organizations on Grounds for student theater, and just because it operates in the background, giving money to student productions and allowing directors and casts all the stage time, doesn't mean it isn't playing an essential artistic role.
"Spectrum is a really great way for students to work on independent projects that they might not otherwise have the opportunity to produce
