The ACC men's basketball scheduling model for the next three years has been approved and released by league officials. The upcoming addition of Boston College to the conference necessitates changes to the 11-team model used for the 2004-2005 basketball season.
During the next three seasons, each of the 12 schools in the conference will play 16-game conference schedules. Each university will have two primary partners and nine rotating partners.
Virginia's two primary opponents will be the Maryland Terrapins and the Virginia Tech Hokies. The Cavaliers will face both of these squads home and away each season. For the 2005-2006 season, Virginia will play Clemson, Florida State and North Carolina both home and on the road. The Cavs will face Boston College, Miami and Wake Forest only once, in the confines of University Hall. Virginia will have one shot on the road against Duke, Georgia Tech and N.C. State next season. This will mark the second year in a row that the Blue Devils and Yellow Jackets will not make the trip to Charlottesville.
