Each week, The Cavalier Daily asks a student 25 questions and allows him or her to eliminate five of them. This week's interviewee is Daniela Vasan, a second-year Spanish and Foreign Affairs major from snowy Rochester, N.Y.
Q: What was your most expensive textbook?
A: Arabic Grammar.
Q: What is your favorite a cappella group on Grounds?
A: Hullabahoos.
Q: How many times have you been to the new Bodo's?
A: Well, since I was here over the summer as an orientation leader, I'd say about 15 times.
Q: When was the last time you did laundry?
A: Yesterday.
Q: On a scale of 1-10, how much are you looking forward to autumn?
A: If 10 is the highest, then I'd say nine. I'm not used to the heat.
Q: What's your favorite place to go with a friend on Grounds?
A: The amphitheater by Lambeth. I didn't know it existed and so it's kind of a secret.
Q: Do you keep a journal?
A: Yes I do. It's leather, simple.
Q: What was your worst day last week?
A: Monday. Not only was it Monday, but classes were going to start on Wednesday.
Q: Under what condition do you think oil prices will come down?
A: Maybe if we discover a continent made entirely of oil.
Q: What will you miss most about summer?
A: Meeting so many interesting people. [Being an orientation leader] can have intense hours, but it's a lot of fun and I would recommend it to anyone interested.
Q: What movie do you never plan on seeing?
A: Anything with Britney Spears in it.
Q: What's your favorite sandwich at Littlejohn's?
A: Meatball sub. I like it a lot.
Q: Dream job?
A: Ambassador for Argentina.
Q: Will Iraq still be the most important issue in American foreign relations in five years?
A: Yes, definitely.
Q: Who is the most underestimated professor on Grounds?
A: A. John Simmons. He teaches Political Philosophy and Philosophical Problems of Law.
Q: What should the University do in response to the five most recent racially-motivated incidents in Charlottesville?
A: It's great that we are all wearing black T-shirts today, but the University should work with police and local authorities -- whether it's for more security or more blue light phones -- to be proactive rather than simply responsive in order to prevent this from happening again.
Q: How do you order steak?
A: Medium-well.
Q: When was the last time you did something embarrassing?
A: I bit it hard in front of Newcomb yesterday and screamed, "Jesus!" and a woman turned and glared at me.
Q: What's the first thing you normally tell people about yourself?
A: That I am from Rochester.
The Verdict: Daniela was tabling on the Lawn selling baked goods. I offered to buy a baked good if she agreed to do 20 Questions. I later found out the baked goods were free. Daniela is a liar.
