Connor Hughes, Kai Parham earn ACC player of the week honors

The ACC announced Monday that two Cavaliers received conference Player of the Week honors. Senior kicker Connor Hughes, who contributed nine points to Virginia's 27-24 win at Syracuse, was named Specialist of the Week. Junior linebacker Kai Parham was named Defensive Lineman of the Week.

Hughes, who received the honor for the fourth time in his career, was perfect on the day for the Cavaliers against the Orange. He was three for three on extra points and converted both of his field goal attempts.

With the game tied in the fourth quarter and no time left on the clock, Hughes' second field goal won the game for the Cavaliers.

Backed by Parham, Virginia surrendered only 252 yards of total offense to the Orange. Parham led the Virginia defense with eight tackles, including a career-high three sacks. His Player of the Week award was the second of his career.

The Cavaliers looks to improve to 3-0 Saturday at 3:30 p.m. when they host 1-2 Duke in the Homecoming game.
