A clear protest policy

LAST WEEK, two on-Grounds demonstrations raised questions about the University's policy on such events. Unfortunately, the policy is not only difficult to find, but nearly nonexistent. Other universities have taken the initiative to clearly outline procedures and guidelines for campus demonstrations. Likewise, a policy should be created here at the University to minimize disruption and chaos from on-Grounds demonstrations.

If someone sought to find the University's policy on campus demonstrations, it would be a futile task. Some specific details can be found for the Lawn and Rotunda, but the rest of Grounds is left uncovered. Something that could be confused for a policy is found at the Office of the Dean of Students' Web site.
