CAVLink reports technicaldifficulties, suspends certain e-mail notifications

University Career Services reported this week that CAVLink, which took the place of HoosTRAK this summer as the University's online internship and job-posting system, has been experiencing small operating issues.

The system has suffered several minor glitches since it began functioning eight weeks ago. Barbara Hampton, associate director for employer services of UCS, attributes these problems to the "natural process of getting used to and switching from one system to another."

Most recently certain e-mail notifications have been disabled after UCS reported that some students might have received e-mails with incorrect information regarding their interview status.

Although significant problems are not anticipated, students are urged to report any issues to UCS.

Although there had never been any significant problems with HoosTRAK, CAVLink has been described as more technically advanced and easier to use, fully equipped with personalized accounts, storage for résumés and transcripts, electronic agents to automate the job search and e-mail notifications. CAVLink also boasts more complete and detailed job listings.

Hampton describes CAVLink, which is supported by NACELink, as more powerful "because of its capabilities to broaden student's access to job listings as well as to have all the information about career fairs and jobs on one system."
