Women's Soccer -- No. 4 Cavaliers draw tie with No. 23 Wake Forest

The Cavaliers and Terrapins went toe to toe Sunday and finished with a 0-0 tie in Winston-Salem N.C. It was Virginia's 9th shutout in 10 games and was the 7th straight unbeaten game for the Cavaliers. Virginia had a 5-4 corner kick advantage and out shot the Demon Deacons 13-12. Virginia opens its home ACC schedule Thursday against No. 12 Florida State. The Cavaliers and Seminoles take the field at 7 p.m. at Klöckner Stadium.

Field Hockey -- Maryland shuts out Cavaliers 4-0

Virginia (5-5, 0-2 ACC) fell to the nation's top team, Maryland, Saturday, despite outshooting and outcornering the Terps (11-0, 3-0 ACC). Maryland got on the board five minutes into the game, but Virginia kept the game close through halftime. Maryland, however, led 1-0 on the scoreboard, slightly edging in short corner (2-1) and shots (4-3). Virginia took 10 shots and drew four short corners, but was unable to capitalize in the second half. With only six shots and one short corner, Maryland put three points on the board to claim the victory. Virginia returns to action Thursday to host California at 6 p.m. at Klöckner Stadium.

Volleyball -- Cavs beat Georgia Tech, fall to Clemson

Virginia (8-6, 3-2 ACC) lost its first two games before coming back to win 3-2 over Georgia Tech Friday. Virginia won game three by a 30-25 mark and edged Georgia Tech 32-30 in the fourth game, forcing a deciding game. Virginia claimed the fifth game 15-12.

Saturday, Clemson (11-2, 4-0 ACC) claimed a 3-0 victory over Virginia, scoring 30-24, 30-27 and 30-21. Virginia hit only .112 for the match, as Clemson finished with a .239 percentage. Next up, Virginia hosts Boston College Friday at 7 p.m. in Memorial Gymnasium.
