Men's Soccer: Cavs fall to Terps on the road The Virginia men's soccer team picked up its fourth ACC loss of the year Saturday night, falling 4-1 to Maryland on the road.The Terrapins (9-4-4, 3-3-1 ACC) got out to a 1-0 lead early in the first half, but the Cavaliers (10-5-2, 1-4-2 ACC) did not stay down for long. In the 31st minute, sophomore Neil Barlow sent a long ball to junior Yannick Reyering, who scored his 13th goal of the season.
The momentum quickly shifted back to the Terrapins, however. Two minutes after Virginia tied the game, Maryland junior Graham Zusi scored to reclaim the lead. After the half, the Cavaliers failed to swing the momentum back in their favor. The Terrapins scored twice more to win by a three goal margin.
Virginia sophomore goalkeeper Mike Giallombardo saved three of Maryland's 12 shots on goal. The Terrapins carried the evening with a 5-3 corner kick advantage and outshot Virginia 12-5.
Virginia will conclude both its ACC and regular season Friday at No. 2 Wake Forest.
