The Cavalier Daily
Serving the University Community Since 1890

From the desk of the Editors:

You may be asking yourself, "Case Blackwell and Jeannette Williams? Who the hell are they?" Well, while we aren't exactly University celebrities, for a year now we've been running the Cav Daily single (or double)-handedly and with an iron fist. Well, not the whole paper, just tableau. But, for better or worse, all good co-dictatorships must come to an end.

After a year lording it over our sequestered corner of arts and entertainment news, it's time for us to venture into a brave new world of non-collegiate news reporting (or at least something non-collegiate).

We had big goals for tableau at the beginning of our term and we achieved many of them, featuring many local stories, innovative opinion pieces on the state of the arts and flashy interviews with some big- (and not-so-big) name artists.

But no editorial dictator is any good without his or her henchmen and women. We owe a big thanks to our senior associate editor Tyler Zang, who produced the calendar every week, and to our two associate editors Ethan Hamlin and Stephanie Garcia who not only copy-edited and proofread all our articles but also supplied us with some great ideas for the section.

In fact Ethan and Stephanie have done such a great job that, in true dictator fashion, they'll usurp the reins from us in a semi-democratic election.

Finally, our section would not have looked as good as it did without our production designer Bowman Dickson, who created an amazing page layout every week (including the lovely layout here).

So there you have it. Our swan song has been sung, parting is such sweet sorrow, here's looking at you kid, stay classy, f#&@ you San Diego, and any other catch phrase you can think of. It's been fun and, short of that, it's certainly been memorable.
