Squad snaps four-game streak last night

Facing Duke on the road last night, Virginia ended a four-game losing streak with a 1-0 victory against the Blue Devils. With the win, the Cavaliers improved to 7-5-3 overall and 2-4-1 in the ACC.

Senior forward Jess Rostedt scored the game's only goal in the 40th minute to give Virginia its deciding advantage. Junior midfielder Sinead Farrelly received a cross inside the box from sophomore forward Lauren Alwine. Farrelly then sent the ball back across the front of the goal to Rostedt, who netted her seventh goal of the season.

Virginia controlled most of the game, outshooting Duke 15-5 and managing a 5-1 corner kick advantage. The Cavaliers' sixth shutout of the season comes at a critical time, as the ACC tournament looms on the horizon. Virginia wraps up its four-game road trip Sunday with a match against Wake Forest.
