Kohles, Nielson lead ranked Cavalier squads

The No. 20 Virginia men's golf team will open its season this Sunday at The Fall Preview in Stillwater, Okla. Junior Ben Kohles, 2010 ACC Co-Player of the Year, leads the team into the season as one of the top 30 players to watch in the country, according to Golfweek. Last season, the Cavaliers finished 11th at the NCAA Championships with Kohles earning 51st place for honorable mention All-American honors.

Meanwhile, the No. 11 women's golf team will continue its season, competing in the Golfweek Conference Challenge in Vail, Colo., beginning Sunday. The Cavaliers finished eighth at The Fall Preview, which ran Sept. 13-15, with senior Calle Nielson finishing 13th with a score of 3-under 213, the squad's highest. She was followed closely by sophomore Brittany Altomare, who came in 19th overall with a 1-under 217. The Cavaliers will look to build upon their 13th-place finish at last season's NCAA Championships as the squad returns all five members of the championship team.
