As Election Day approaches student have a variety of options available to make it to the polls

The repetition of a Hillary Clinton Iowa caucus ad in the heat of the 2008 Democratic presidential primaries comes to mind as I consider the obstacles of getting to the polls this November. The ad features a tiring Bill Clinton running on a treadmill while dreaming of a juicy cheeseburger as the narrator says, "Exercising is hard. But caucusing is easy." Few people, I speculate, are happier than I am that caucuses only take place every four or eight years. Fortunately, midterm general elections make things quite simple. But students continue to seem rather confused about the when, where, how and for whom to vote this year, even though there are countless ways to get to the polls and make your voice heard. Do not miss out on this opportunity to have your say in 2010.

In 2008, the Congressional election in Virginia's Fifth District was the tightest nationwide with Democrat Tom Perriello unseating five-term Republican Virgil Goode by a 727-vote margin. While many Democratic gains in 2008 were attributed to the coattail effect of Barack Obama's presidential bid, that did not happen here.
