Kohles leads Cavs for fifth place

The No. 19 Cavaliers finished fifth at the U.S Collegiate Championships in Alpharetta, Ga. yesterday, ending the three-day tournament and their fall season. Virginia has finished in the top five in three out of their four tournaments this fall.

Overall, the squad shot a 6-over 870, finishing 34 shots behind first-place Georgia Tech. Junior Ben Kohles led the Cavaliers with a seventh-place finish, shooting a 1-under 215, for the 12th top-10 finish of his career. Senior Amory Davis and sophomore Mac MacLaughlin tied for 20th with scores of 3-over.

Despite finishing behind Georgia Tech, Virginia placed ahead of fellow ACC schools Wake Forest, Duke, Florida State and Clemson. The Cavaliers will resume play in February at the John Burns Intercollegiate in Hawaii.
