Wrestling: The Cavaliers cruised to a 38-7 road victory against George Mason Thursday as the team won eight of 10 bouts and tied a program record with its 18th dual win this season.
Baseball: Junior pitcher Danny Hultzen starred on the mound and at the plate during Friday night's season-opening 6-4 win against Alabama-Birmingham by throwing 6.2 innings of one-run ball and knocking in two runs at the plate.
Softball: The Virginia softball team (6-3) opened the East Carolina Pirate Classic by splitting a Friday doubleheader. The Cavaliers first blanked Kent State 8-0 as sophomore pitcher Melanie Mitchell notched her second shutout of the season, but then were shut out, 3-0, by East Carolina and Pirates senior pitcher Toni Paisley's complete game.
Baseball: Senior pitcher Tyler Wilson silenced a fearsome Auburn lineup with six shutout innings Saturday. The Tigers were the nation's sixth-best hitting team last season, but Virginia hitters outshone them during a 13-2 thumping.
Softball: The Cavaliers swept their Saturday doubleheader by rallying late for a 15-8 victory against Saint Johns and then narrowly edging Hofstra 2-0. Against the Red Storm, sophomore catcher Kristen Hawkins went a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with a double, a home run and a game-best five RBIs, while Mitchell posted another shutout against the Pride.
Baseball: Senior pitcher Cody Winiarski added six more scoreless frames Sunday as the team completed its perfect opening weekend at the Auburn Tournament with an 8-2 win against Arkansas State. No. 13 Virginia (3-0) plays VMI at Davenport Field Wednesday.

Softball: Virginia lost a rematch against Hofstra, 2-1, in the final game of the tournament Sunday when the Cavaliers managed to score just one run after loading the bases with no outs in the third inning. Starting Thursday, the team begins play for the Cathedral City Classic in Palm Springs, Calif.
Wrestling: Virginia traveled to Old Dominion for a rivalry match Sunday and earned wins in seven of the 10 weight classes en route to a 25-11 victory. The match also saw redshirt junior Nick Nelson return to Virginia's lineup and earn a 7-2 win at 141 pounds by decision after missing the past three months with an elbow injury.\nWith the win, the Cavaliers (19-7) set a program record for most dual victories in one season.
