Team battles Buckeyes

Following much-needed break, No. 2 Cavaliers hosts No. 20 Ohio State

After winning both its games last week, the No. 2 Virginia men's lacrosse team has enjoyed something it hasn't had all season - a break.

The Cavaliers' schedule has proved grueling so far, with seven games in the first three weeks and two road trips to play top-five opponents. That stretch culminated with three contests while the rest of the student body enjoyed Spring Break. Virginia lost an early showdown for national supremacy at No. 1 Syracuse 12-10 before overpowering Vermont 14-6 and grinding out an 11-9 victory against then-No. 14 Cornell at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore.

"We were playing two games a week, and it's good we're finally to the part of our schedule where we're playing one game a week and able to focus more on one opponent at a time," junior midfielder Colin Briggs said.

This week, that opponent is No. 20 Ohio State, which also has not played since last weekend and should be equally well-rested when the squads face off at 3 p.m. Saturday at Kl
