Silent film pays homage to cinematic history

Shed your misconceptions and predispositions about silent film, because The Artist, the passion project of French helmer Michel Hazanavicius, is as much a testament to the power of the cinematic medium as it is a celebration of the silent era. The film aired Sunday afternoon at the Virginia Film Festival and was beautifully written and directed.
