Seniors Julia Elbaba and Danielle Collins won their singles brackets Sunday at the U.Va. Fall Invite, the only home tournament of the fall season for the Virginia women’s tennis team.

Currently Nos. 3 and 8, respectively, in the Oracle/ITA national singles rankings, Elbaba defeated Arkansas senior Yuliya Lysa for the Blue flight title, while Collins topped teammate senior Skylar Morton in an all-Cavaliers Orange flight championship.

Elbaba and Collins rolled through their brackets, winning four matches apiece without dropping a set. Elbaba defeated Virginia freshman Meghan Kelley in the Blue flight semifinals, 6-2, 6-1, before ceding just four games against Lysa in the final.

Coming off a singles title at the Oracle/ITA Masters Tournament in Malibu, Calif., Collins steamrolled Razorbacks freshman Ana Oparenovic in the Orange flight semis. She then posted a 6-3, 6-2 win against Morton, who played mostly No. 4 singles for the Cavaliers last year.

In the Orange flight doubles final, Collins and Kelley edged Elbaba and Morton, 8-7. Junior Victoria Olivarez and sophomore Cassie Mercer took the third-place match in the Blue flight bracket, defeating teammates senior Maci Epstein and freshman Erica Susi, 6-2.

Virginia travels to Los Angeles for the Riviera All-American this weekend and will be back at Snyder Tennis Center for match play Jan. 22 against Brigham Young University.
