Hoos on First — starting off Season 2 with a look at football’s progress, a summer recap

The Cavalier Daily Sports podcast is hosted by Mara Guyer and Zach Zamoff

The Cavalier Daily Sports podcast, Hoos on First, was started by writer Emily Caron last year. Emily now works for Sports Illustrated.

Last year, the podcast drew a wide audience base and featured various guests, such as former Cavalier basketball player and now-NBA player Justin Anderson.

Associate editor Mara Guyer and senior associate editor Zach Zamoff will now lead the podcast into Season 2. This season, the “Wahoo Weekly” update on Virginia sports will continue.

A couple special features have been added for this season, including Mara’s “Mood of the Week,” which takes a look at the best moment or player from the week, and Zach’s “Beat of the Week,” which analyzes a dispirited moment from the week in sports.

This week’s episode — in addition to the new and returning segments — covers football’s run so far and prospects against Louisville, a summer update on Virginia sports and recruiting and a look at the Women’s Hockey World Cup.
